Mold inspectors are professionals who are trained to detect the presence of mold in your home or any other building. When hiring a mold specialist of this type make sure they are licensed and certified. The mold experts will come to your location and examine your home to check for the presence of mold. They may use special devices to confirm that the house is infested with mold. In addition, these mold experts may take a sample of the mold in your home to the lab for testing to determine what kind it is.
The EPA, which stands for the Environmental Protection Agency, has a wealth of information about mold and getting rid of it on their official site. There are types of mold that are practically harmless, however in people with allergies may find that the presence of mold makes them suffer allergy and/or asthma attacks.
After the presence of mold and the type of mold has been identified, mold removal services can be performed. Depending on the type of mold, you may need to hire a professional removal crew. This can cost in the thousands of dollars, however some companies offer financing programs for customers. If you do end up hiring a company to get rid of your house mold, make sure they are licensed, insured and check their standing with the Better Business Bureau to make sure no cases have been filed against them.
Mold inspectors may inform you that the problem is not too severe, in which case you may have the option of getting rid of the mold on your own. It is a nasty job, and one that requires protective equipment. Most people use either a bleach and water mixture or a special cleanser made for mold removal. After scraping, scrubbing and rinsing you will need to dry the area and make sure it stays dry. Water is the number one cause of mold, so make sure any damp areas in your residence are dried thoroughly. A dehumidifier can help in some rooms with high humidity.
